The Dutch can be held responsible for the origin of coffee production in Central America, because they introduced the coffee bushes in French Guiana. From present-day Suriname, the coffee bush was spread across the continent.

Well-known areas in Colombia where coffee is grown include Antioquia, Huila, Caldas, Tolimo, Sierra Nevada, Santander and Valle de Cauca. Also called the coffee axis. Due to the difference in height in these regions, each region has its own flavor profile. There are mainly 2 types of coffee, the Colombia Supremo and Colombia Excelso. The Supremo has a screen size of at least 17 and the Excelso a screen size of 15.

Bijdendijk can recommend the following coffees:
• Colombia Supremo 17/18
• Colombia Excelso

These coffees are characterized by a fruity and sweet taste profile with notes of chocolate and caramel, with a medium body and fresh medium acidity.
